Reading Blog #1

First, I'm going to address the elephant in the room. Before even finishing the article, I had to google translate “Bain d’ Images”. Yes, I could have read more to figure out what it meant but I got impatient. To my surprise, it meant over-saturation of images. To this day, I feel like there really isn’t such a thing as the oversaturation of images if you use it in the right context. Like if there is a purpose then it’s the perfect amount of saturation. I was looking at the Visual Literacy definitions and it really opened up my perspective a bit about this whole concept. “VL’s main focus is intentional communication in an instructional context” spoke volumes. Art and Visuals is the one thing in this life that finds the loophole in a language barrier. It’s universal to the world. Everyone can see the art and it doesn’t require some special translation. Everyone has their own interaction with the same visual that everyone around the world is seeing. It is truly a beautiful concept and realization to think of. “VL has been identified as the essential literacy by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.” this might be the most true thing I have read in a while. This generation alone has used so much art to portray messages. It is consistently evolving and will only get even more impressive with how things will be read through VL. I am very happy to be involved in this medium and use visuals to portray so much and touch so many people. It is convenient with the technological advances and makes it easier to connect and touch so many more people. Something about visually seeing something rather than hearing it just gets captured in such a different way in my opinion.
